Zincalume® (by BHP Steel Malaysia) a zinc/aluminum formulation, is a corrosion-resistant alloy coated steel produced by continuous hot dip process, which has the same formability as equivalent galvanized steel. Trials confirmed the findings that Zincalume® coating has a much longer life expectancy to that from a coating similar thickness exposed under the same conditions as the traditional galvanized coating. It has therefore been well accepted as a preferred alternative to both galvanized and aluminized steel in such areas as roofing and walling, rainwater goods, automotive components, appliances etc. The alloy coating of Zincalume® provides the optimum composition of aluminum and zinc for corrosion resistance and galvanic protection. Atmospheric exposure test programs confirm the corrossion resistance of Zincalume® is twice as good as galvanized coating.

Zincalume® coatings ensure its suitability for the many applications mentioned while making it also compatible with other finishes or materials similar to that as traditional Zinc coated sheet steel. Zincalume®'s performance is vastly superior to zinc coated material in appliances where condensation and marine conditions are encountered.
